Who am I...
Wife and Mother
Hi, my name is Julie Mower, I am a 45-year-old wife, and mother of 2 teenage boys. I am originally from Kaysville, UT. I met my husband when he came back from Air Force basic training.
My husband and I married in 1997 and immediately stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. In 2001 my husband went into Reserve's at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah, five minutes from our hometown.
Shortly after moving into a new house, we started a family; our first son was born in May 2002. Then 18 months later, our second son was born. To say the least, I was a very busy mom because I was working full time, raising a baby, and trying to keep up with a very active toddler.
Adventurer
I have always been very active and probably
always will be. I love the outdoors and going on adventures with my family and friends. If I had a choice, I would rather be outside than sitting around watching T.V. I enjoy photography, mostly to document my adventures and the natural beauty around me.
For the last 20 years, I have been running. I have participated in many races like Ragnar Relay, Red Rock Relay, Ogden Marathon, Issaquah Sprint Triathalon, Lake Chelan Half Marathon, The Legacy Highway Bike Race, and more recently, the Cedar City Half Marathon. Running for me has been a way to relieve the day to day stresses in life, and on the plus side, it keeps me in shape.
I also love to ski and snowboard in the beautiful mountains of Utah..." best snow on earth." I learned to ski when I was 10 yrs old. I picked up snowboarding shortly after graduating high school.
One of my all-time favorite things to do is go up to our family cabin in Island Park, ID. I grew up with some great memories of the place. I learned to fly fish there, and we ride ATV's and canoe down the many rivers. Most of all, I enjoy hiking in Yellowstone, which is about 30 minutes away. I have seen some beautiful terrain and seen magnificent wildlife.
Human Resource Leader
For the last 15 years, I have been working in the human resource field and have learned many valuable leadership skills. Primarily, the importance of transformational leadership and its influence on business. My leadership role as a human resource professional is to help employees and co-workers better themselves and positively impact the company's goals and objectives.
My most recent position was the Human Resource Manager for Upper Limit Aviation. In this role, I learned the importance of hiring good employees as an asset to the company. I knew that it was essential to support the employees in achieving their own career goals, which contributed to carrying out the
company's vision.
In 2017, I went back to school to pursue a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis on public administration and business leadership. In my studies, I have learned about different aspects of leadership and the impact it has on business. The most significant thing I learned was leadership principles by Dr. W. Edwards Deming's where he puts it simply, "The aim of leadership should be to improve man and machine performance, improve quality, increase output, and simultaneously bring pride of workmanship to people."
